Going on vacation? Why not treat your dog to one, as well? Our friendly and attentive team will do everything possible to ensure Bark BLVD feels like a home away from home for your pup during their dog boarding experience. Whether you need dog sitting for an overnight stay, the weekend, a holiday, or extended care, your dog will spend their days enjoying supervised open play with their BFF and their nights enjoying restful sleep.
SHORT- & LONG-TERM DOG BOARDING
Dogs boarding with us will enjoy a staycation, burning off any excess energy during a full day of play with our daycare dogs. Dogs are separated into supervised playrooms depending on size, play style, and temperament, ensuring the comfort and safety of all our guests. They’ll enjoy all day open play that features brain games designed to improve manners and behavior. There will also be plenty of time for naps and breaks, should they require them. If your dog is having lunch, he/she will be fed at the start of naptime and will have plenty of time to digest their food before they are allowed to play again. This private time is also when we administer any medications, if applicable.
After a full day of exercise and fun, your pup will be tired but happy when they go to bed. They sleep in our home-style crates, or suites in climate controlled rooms so they feel safe and comfortable. We aim to make their dog boarding experience a great one.
WHAT TO BRING
We care about your dog’s safety and comfort. We encourage you to bring your pup’s own food to maintain their regular diet and avoid any digestion issues. You may consider bringing a little extra food for boarding as they burn a lot more calories in play than they typically do at home! If you forget your food for meals, no worries! We have in-house food for your convenience.
During their boarding stay, your dog will be fed at approximately 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with a treat or lunch at naptime if you request. Food will be served and prepared exactly as requested by each pet parent. We’ll accommodate any special dietary needs your pup may have and won’t charge extra for feeding or administering medication.
You are encouraged to bring any bedding that will make your dog feel “at home” and we will provide it only to them. (Please remember we cannot guarantee bedding will be returned in the same condition.)
As your dog will play in an open area with other dogs, we do not accept toys from home. Your dog may feel possessive of their own toys, and many are not suitable for the playroom as they are too easily torn or ripped.
PREPARE YOUR DOG FOR BOARDING
Our boarding facilities are fully equipped to handle dogs of all shapes and sizes. We recommend at least one day of daycare (three days is ideal) prior to your dog’s overnight stay to allow your pup to get used to the facility and have a better overall experience. Your dog will become comfortable with our staff and learn that you will be coming back to bring them home. It will also give our staff an opportunity to learn your pup’s personality and play preferences.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BOARDING
After an exciting boarding stay at Bark BLVD, it’s important to ensure your dog adapts well to being back home. While at Bark BLVD, your dog received access to unlimited water in their playroom. However, it is still likely they will seem very thirsty upon returning home. This is a common reaction to the excitement of being back at home with their family. Please withhold water from them for the first 30 minutes that they are home. After they have calmed down from the excitement of being home, you should then give them a small bowl of water and continue to monitor their water consumption for the next few hours. Dogs that drink too much water too quickly may lead to vomiting or, in very serious cases, could lead to bloat.
We recommend waiting at least three hours from the time you arrive home to offer their next feeding. Again, they will be very happy to be home and quite excited. Similar to the side effects of drinking water too quickly, eating too quickly may cause illness.
Bark BLVD is a very active environment, with the dogs interacting for several hours per day. Even if your dog did not run all day, simply being awake can make them very, very tired. At home, most dogs sleep the day away getting 18 or more hours of sleep. Although we have a two-hour nap, and the dogs sleep approximately eight hours per night, they will be tired. Please let them rest. We do not recommend that you take them to the dog park or any other social environment for at least a few days.
